United States Air Force Great American Rivalry Series 2008

Contest Rules

  1. Videos must be under 3 minutes.
  2. Videos must be smaller than 20MB in Windows Media, Quicktime, MPEG, or AVI format.
  3. Videos must use some United States Air Force footage.
  4. Contestants must use the provided music tracks. Music from other artists will not be accepted due to licensing issues.
  5. Profanity or inappropriate images will not be permitted.
  6. One (1) mashup submission per registration. Students may only register once.
  7. Deadline for entry is the Tuesday before local rivarly game. Click here for the schedule.

Official Rules

  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
  1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND REQUIRED TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED, TAXED OR OTHERWISE RESTRICTED BY LAW. Contest is subject to all federal, state and local taxes, statues and regulations.
  1. PARTICIPATION CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF OFFICIAL RULES. Participation in this Contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional acceptance of these Official Rules. Contest is sponsored by iHigh, Inc., 325 West Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40507, on behalf of GSD&M's GSD&M's Idea City and the United States Air Force ("Sponsor").(“Sponsor”).
  1. HOW TO ENTER. The Contest begins at 12:00:00 AM EST on August 4, 2008 and ends at 11:59:00 p.m. EST on November 28, 2008 (the "Promotional Period").
  2. To enter the Contest, visit the www.airforce.com/rivalry (the "Interactive Website") and follow the instructions to submit a spirit video. The use of automated entry software is prohibited.

    If for any reason the Interactive Website that is hosting the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alternation of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest. The Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify individuals and void spirit video entries, to modify or suspend the Contest, or to terminate the Contest or a portion of the Contest, and to award no prizes or modified prizes as it deems appropriate using all remaining eligible entries received as of a termination date. Should the Contest be terminated or modified, notice will be posted on the Interactive Website. Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

    VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

    Videos must be under 3 minutes. Videos must be smaller than 20MGs in Windows Media, Quicktime, MPEG, AVI or FLV format. Videos must use some of the United States Air Force footage provided on the Interactive Website. Entrant must only use the music provided on the Interactive Website.

    All material provided by entrant in the spirit video must be the original work of the entrant and must be owned by the entrant and must not have been submitted in any other competition or previously published (i.e., shown to anyone outside of your family or close friends). Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party's pre-existing work does not qualify as entrant's original creation. Video must be in keeping with the US Air Force's image and may not be offensive, as determined in the sole discretion of the Sponsor, nor can it defame or invade publicity rights or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or property rights, including but not limited to, intellectual property rights. Sponsor's right to use the spirit video shall not be restricted. For any spirit video which includes the name, image, voice, picture or likenesses of a third party or element not owned by the entrant including without limitation the depictions of buildings, trademarks or logos ("Third Party Elements"), entrant must be able to provide legal releases for use of all Third Party Elements in the spirit video by Sponsor in a form satisfactory to Sponsor at the time of prize notification or earlier at Sponsor's discretion. Upon submission, entrant warrants and represents that any and all individuals appearing in entrant's spirit video have consented to appear in such video and entrant must be able to provide legal releases for use of all such individuals by Sponsor in a form satisfactory to Sponsor at the time of prize notification or earlier at Sponsor's discretion. Sponsor will provide the appropriate release forms to winners at time of prize notification or earlier at Sponsor's discretion.

    Entries that are incomplete or do not comply with these Official Rules in any way are subject to disqualification. No correspondence regarding entries will be acknowledged or exchanged with entrants except at Sponsor's sole discretion. Upon submission of a spirit video, entrant grants Sponsor the right to use, publish, adapt, assign, edit, dispose of, and/or modify the spirit video and the materials and Third Party Elements embodied therein in any way, in any and all media whether now known or later developed, worldwide, in perpetuity, without limitation or approval by or compensation to the entrant or any other person and entrant may be required to sign a release to that effect at the time of prize notification or earlier at Sponsor's discretion. Submission of a spirit video further constitutes the entrant's consent to irrevocably assign and transfer to the Sponsor any and all rights, title, interest and claim including without limitation, all intellectual property, sales, and licensing rights which he/she now has or may have in the future, to the spirit video and the materials and Third Party Elements embodied therein. Entries will not be returned.

  1. JUDGING: All approved sprit videos will be posted on the Interactive Website during which time, any individual who visits that site will be able to vote on their favorite spirit video. On the Tuesday immediately prior to the date of the applicable Rivalry game (see specific dates of Rivalry games in Section 7 - Prizes), Sponsor's judges will select the top two videos, scoring spirit videos from among all eligible entries received during the Promotional Period. The spirit videos will be judged using the following criteria: illustrating school spirit (25%); illustrating US Air Force values (25%); and overall popularity as calculated by the online votes received (50%) for a total of 100 points. In the event of a tied score, the spirit video which received the most points for illustrating school spirit will be declared one of the potential winning videos and in the event of a further tie, the spirit video which scored the most points for illustrating US Air Force values will be declared one of the potential winning videos. Only one person shall be identified as the potential winner for each spirit video submission. The decisions of the Sponsor's judges are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
  1. WINNER NOTIFICATION: On the Wednesday immediately prior to the date of the applicable Rivalry game (see specific dates of Rivalry games in Section 7 – Prizes), all winners will be notified by email to the email address provided at the time of entry.  Sponsor reserves the right to modify prize award procedures.  In the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on an email address, the winning entry will be declared made by the “Authorized Account Holder” of the email address submitted at time of entry.  “Authorized Account Holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, education institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.  The return of any prize notification or prize as undeliverable or any other non-compliance with the Official Rules may result in the forfeiture of a prize and the selection of an alternate winner at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.  Winners will be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release and where legal, a Publicity Release and provide other releases at Sponsor’s sole discretion, including without limitation, releases for all Third Party Elements and from individuals appearing in winner’s spirit video, all of which must be returned within fourteen (14) days of issuance of initial prize notification or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate potential winner selected from the remaining entries.  If a potential winner is a minor, his or her parent or legal guardian must execute and timely return such documents to be executed by minor to Sponsor on the minor’s behalf.


  1. PRIZES: A total of forty (40) Prize Packages will be awarded.  To be eligible to receive a prize, entrant must currently attend one of the forty (40) high schools participating in the Great American Rivalry Series? sponsored by the United States Air Force (listed below).  The Prize Packages will consist of branded United States Air Force premium items and at least one (1) iHigh branded premium item.  Premiums included in the Prize Package: 2008 Great American Rivalry Series® t-shirt; Air Force branded gray t-shirt; Air Force branded dark blue t-shirt; Community College of the Air Force water bottle; Air Force branded NASCAR 1:64 die cast collectible car; Air Force lanyard; Air Force blue mini football (stress ball); Air Force pen; Air Force Carabineer; and an Air Force Drawstring Backpack/Bag.  The approximate retail value of each Prize Package will not exceed $50.

    Prizes will be awarded to students who currently attend one of the following forty (40) high schools listed below (note, the date of the applicable Rivalry games are listed in parenthesis by Month/Date/Year):

    Limit one (1) Prize Package per student who attends one of the forty (40) high schools participating in the 2008 Great American Rivalry Series® sponsored by the United States Air Force (see complete list of applicable high schools in Section 7 – Prizes).

    Winners acknowledge that except and to the extent that the Sponsor cannot by law exempt itself from responsibility or liability, the Sponsor has neither made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prizes described therein; including, but not limited to, its quality, merchantability, mechanical condition or fitness for use.  All warranties are hereby disclaimed, and the winner will accept the Prize Package “as is.”  All federal, state and local taxes, fees and other expenses not specified herein (including, without limitation, sales tax, luxury tax and any other costs incurred in claiming or using any of the prizes), are the prize winner’s sole responsibility.  Prizes cannot be assigned, transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash.  No prize substitution or cash equivalent of prize, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion, and then only for a prize of equal or greater value.

  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, the United States Air Force, GSD&M’s Idea City and iHigh, Inc. (as defined below), and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliated businesses, advertising and promotion agencies and the officers, directors, employees and agents of each from and against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named and described) for injuries, damages or losses to persons or property which may be sustained in connection with receipt, enjoyment, ownership or use of any prize or participation in the Contest.  By acceptance of prize, winner grants permission to Sponsor to use winner’s name, age, city, state, photograph or likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without compensation or approval (where lawful).  Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Contest at any time and substitute another promotion in its place.


  1. ELIGIBILITY:  The Contest is open to legal residents of the United States and District of Columbia who are at least fourteen (14) years of age and currently enrolled high school students at one of the forty (40) high schools participating in the 2008 Great American Rivalry Series? sponsored by the United States Air Force (see list of applicable high schools in Section 7 – Prizes).  By participating in the Contest, entrants represent that they are at least fourteen (14) years of age and have their parent’s or legal guardian’s consent to participate in the Contest.  Employees of iHigh or GSD&M’s Idea City or the US Air Force, their parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, and advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate families and members of their household are not eligible to enter or win.


  1. ODDS: The odds of winning will be determined by the number of entries received as well as the content appeal of the entrants submitted and approved.  To obtain a Winner’s List (available after December 1, 2008), send a self-addressed, stamped business size (#10) envelope to: iHigh Interactive Website Contest; 325 West Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507.  All requests for a Winner’s List must be received by January 1, 2009.


  1. DISPUTES: By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees that (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, or any prizes awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and any judicial proceeding shall take place in a federal or state court within the Commonwealth of Kentucky; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event attorney’s fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and consequential damages, and any other damages other than out-of-pocket expenses and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.  All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, to the extent that such issues and questions are not subject to the statues or regulations of another state or locality, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of laws or provisions (whether of the Commonwealth of Kentucky or any other jurisdiction), that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Commonwealth of Kentucky.


  1. PRIVACY POLICY: The Contest is hosted on the Interactive Website. Information collected will be used by the Sponsor and the US Air Force for purposes of conducting the Contest and US Air Force recruiting.

    Personally identifiable information you provide will not be sold or disclosed to other parties by the Sponsor or the US Air Force except as may otherwise be required by law.

    Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from the Interactive Website.
